Simple Protected Download Manager

  • Posted August 27, 2008. Last modified February 21, 2011 by

The purpose of this project was to allow me a way to store and download a library of media files on my hosting server without allowing everyone else to see the files or download them as well.

My home connection is not nearly as fast as the hosting connection so I have my torrent files set to automatically ssh the files to the hosting when they are completed. This project allows the browsing and downloading of any of those files with a user login and password that is configured for the pages. At this time only one user is supported.

The system displays a login screen and if the user is successful in logging in, a directory listing is provided along with icons which are associated with folders and file types. The icons were taken from the free icon set available at: http://www.famfamfam.com/lab/icons/silk/.

Requirements

The requirements for this project are fairly lean since it is quite simple:

  • – Apache
  • – PHP
